U.S. Pushed Allies on Iraq, Diplomat Writes In the months leading up to the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq, the Bush administration threatened trade reprisals against friendly countries who withheld their support, spied on its allies, and pressed for the recall of U.N. envoys that resisted U.S. pressure to endorse the war, according to an upcoming book by a top Chilean diplomat.

Bomb, bomb Iran? The danger of a McCain presidency is not only that he would prolong our presence in Iraq but that he would seek to fulfill neoconservative dreams of a war expanded from Iraq into Iran and Syria, leading to a regional conflagration. With his campaign already sowing the arguments for a wider conflict, we will not be able to say we weren't warned.

Cheney backs Israel over security Mr Cheney said the US would never put any pressure on Israel over issues he said would threaten its security.....Mr Olmert said that there were "many items on the common agenda" of the US and Israel including Iran and carrying on peace negotiations with Palestinians. And the settlements Israel is constantly building and expanding in Palestinian territory, do they have anything to do with Israeli 'security'? So, why hasn't the US -aside from Bush the first's attempt in the early 90s - pressured Israel on THAT matter? Furthermore, Iran does not threaten the American national interest.
